The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is investigating the circumstances of a police fatal shooting incident, which resulted in the death of an unidentified man, in Claremont Heights in Old Harbour, St Catherine.
INDECOM, in a release, said it was seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the deceased male in this incident.

The initial police report states that officers from the St Catherine Specialised Operational Team were conducting surveillance when they observed a man exit a vehicle holding a firearm.
It is alleged that the man pointed a firearm in the direction of the officers, and they fired in response. The vehicle, from which the now deceased alighted, sped away and was discovered on another road in the housing scheme with apparent bullet damages. No additional person has so far been reported as being injured from this incident.
One firearm, Smith and Wesson pistol, was reported as recovered from the scene.
An initial account of the incident was provided by each concerned officer. The officers further reported that no body worn cameras were issued or worn during either incident.
The examination, processing and packaging of evidential material was completed. The body of the deceased man was photographed and sealed, pending post mortem examination.
