Manchester man dies after being struck by piece of steel which fell from a truck

A 60-year-old man has died after he was hit by a piece of steel which fell from a truck in Balvenie Heights, Mandeville, yesterday.

Police identified him as Robert Dawes, a resident of George Reid District in Manchester.

Police say at about 10: 30 a.m., Dawes was sitting under a tree when he was struck by the piece of steel after it fell from the truck, which was transporting building material.

Dawes was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
