Motorists using roadways in St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland urged to exercise caution due to flooding after heavy rains
Road users in St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland are being urged to exercise caution in travelling along some corridors at this time.
The National Works Agency (NWA) said this is because persistent rainfall has resulted in flooding, blocked drains and siltation impacting roads.
NWA Manager of Communication Stephen Shaw said the impacted areas are mostly along the coast between Ocho Rios, St. Ann and Port Antonio, Portland.
The eastern parishes are being impacted by rains associated with a trough.
In St. Mary, flooding is being experienced in Rio Nuevo, Stewart Town and Port Maria.
The Mother Ford Drain in Annotto Bay is also at capacity.
Mr. Shaw said the main road through St. Margaret’s Bay, Orange Bay and Windsor Castle are among corridors in Portland being impacted.
Motorists are being reminded to avoid attempting to use heavily flooded roads, while pedestrians are being urged to avoid using the affected corridors.
