National Security Minister says the government has a responsibility to ensure the church is protected
Minister of National Security and Peace Dr. Horace Chang says the government has a responsibility to ensure the church is protected and supported based on the role it plays in society.
He highlights in particular the church’s role in shaping lives, strengthening families and protecting communities.
According to Dr. Chang, throughout Jamaica’s history, faith-based organisations have helped to shape not just spirituality but the nation itself, by among other things, educating generations, and guiding young people away from violence and toward purpose.
Dr. Chang also underscores that some of the work to be undertaken to help communities will require the assistance of the church, pointing out that no one should be left behind.
He was speaking at the Service of Inauguration for Jamaica Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the newly elected administration.
It was held at the weekend.
