Police say safety, security and public order maintained at recent staging of Reggae Sumfest in Plantation Cove, St. Ann

The police are reporting that safety, security and public order were maintained at the recent staging of Reggae Sumfest at Plantation Cove, St. Ann.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the Jamaica Constabulary’s Strategic Operations Portfolio, Dr. Gary Mckenzie, said no major incident occurred at the event, and the traffic was of no concern due to the systems implemented by the police as well as other stakeholders.

There were concerns, as major events in the past have led to a gridlock and disruptions for the commuting public.

Speaking with IRIE FM News today, ACP Mckenzie lauded the organizers and the public for cooperating with the system in place to ensure that public order was maintained.

ACP Mckenzie noted that the Constabulary’s security apparatus was wide ranging, as officers maintained a presence on the roadway, as well as inside and outside the venue.

He said discipline was maintained on the roads by both motorists attending the event, as well as others going about their business.
