Residents in Long Road, St Mary no longer marooned due to single-lane traffic access
Residents of Long Road in St. Mary are no longer marooned, as effort was made last evening, to create single-lane traffic access to the community.
The area was initially cut off, following heavy rains, flooding and land slides.
The Junction Main Road was also rendered impassable, due to the heavy rains.
Member of Parliament for South East St. Mary, Christopher Brown, said the downpours also severely affected other areas, including Camberwell, George’s Hope and Lewisburgh.
Mr. Brown said sections of the roadway in the Long Road District have now been cleared sufficiently to allow single-lane traffic, providing relief to residents who were previously unable to leave the area.
