St. Ann’s Bay Infant school students call for peace while marching through town   

“We want peace.”

Little voices with a big message.

That was the aim of today’s peace march by students from the St. Ann’s Bay Infant school in St. Ann as they staged a peace march through the parish capital.

Early morning showers did not dampen the spirits of the children, who were accompanied by parents and teachers, to spread the message of peace as they walked from the National Commercial Bank to the Anglican Church.

Some parents said the activity highlighted the importance of instilling a culture of peace from an early age.

The school’s head girl and deputy head boy noted that the march is a call to action: to stop violence.

Principal Debbie Parsons Morris pointed out that peace is always promoted at the school, while highlighting the fact that there has never been an incident there.

She said the activity was well supported by drivers and passersby, indicating that the children’s message of peace was heard.
