A man who reportedly eluded the police for over a decade was arrested and charged last week, in relation to a double murder in St Elizabeth.
He is 41-year-old Andre Daniels, a labourer of Middle Quarters District
Daniels is charged with 2 counts of murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and assault at common law.
This in relation to an incident in his community on Thursday, June 9, 2011.
Reports from the Black River police are that Daniels visited a woman, with whom he had an ongoing issue, at her house.
While there, he reportedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and opened fire at the occupants, hitting three people.
Daniels then escaped on foot in the area.
The 3 wounded persons were taken to the hospital,
Two men were pronounced dead.
They were later identified as 24-year-old Andrew Grey and 19-year-old Dave Davis, both of Middle Quarters.
The third person was admitted for treatment.
An official report was made to the police and an investigation was launched.
Last Tuesday, December 16, Daniels was arrested during a targeted operation.
He was charged following a question-and-answer session.
A court date is being arranged.
