Education Minister, Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, says a team from the ministry will be dispatched to provide grief and trauma counselling to students, staff and parents associated with the Ocho Rios High School in St. Ann.

This follows the death of 16-year-old student, Devonie Shearer of Ocho Rios.

He was allegedly attacked by another pupil, who the police have since apprehended.

The Minister described the student’s death as a devastating loss and assured that the Government would provide the necessary support.

She said the incident reflects the need to boost the culture of peace in the nation’s educational institutions.

The Ministry is appealing to all students, parents and community members to reject violence in every form and to reinforce respect, conflict resolution and responsible decision-making at home and at school.
