Trelawny men booked for capital murder, rape and ‘so much more’

Sleuths from the Trelawny Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have arrested and charged three men with a slew of criminal offences, including the murder of 15-year-old student Jamelia Cole, arising from an incident on Cotton Tree Lane in Albert Town in the parish on August 6, 2023.

Charged with being part of a criminal organisation, conspiracy to commit burglary, aiding and abetting burglary, capital murder, wounding with intent, causing grievious bodily harm to commit murder, burglary with intent, and rape are:

23-year-old Timoy Brown, otherwise called ‘Big Red’, a farmer of Cotton Tree district.22-year-old Tyrese Brown, otherwise called ‘Sheets Man’, of Albert Town, Trelawny.20-year-old Jabean Brock, otherwise called ‘Nuko’, a labourer of Stettin district, Trelawny.

Reports from the police are that on the date mentioned above, all three men allegedly gained access to a dwelling house that was occupied by four females, through a kitchen window.

Three of the females women were subsequently hit in their heads with a blunt object, which rendered them unconscious.

During the incident, a nine-year-old girl who was asleep, woke up and contacted her dad, who instructed her.

The child made her way to the neighbours, who alerted the police.

On the arrival of law enforcers, three females were seen lying in the house with heads injuries, and the now deceased teen – Jamelia Cole – was seen naked with her hands bound some metres away from the house.

All the females were transported to the hospital, where Jamelia was pronounced dead and the others were treated and released.

The men were subsequently apprehended in separate incidents. Tyrese Brown was intercepted by the police in a stolen motorcar on Monday, August 19, and remains in custody.

The other men were picked up in their communities.

They were jointly charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of their lawyers on Saturday, August 24.

A court date is being finalised for them.
