Two Chinese business operators charged in St. Elizabeth over illegal sugar sales

Two Chinese business operators were arrested and charged on Friday in St. Elizabeth for selling illegally imported sugar from Guyana.
They were arrested during a joint operation involving the police and the Sugar Industry Authority.
The two individuals were charged for breaches of the Sugar Industry Control Act.
Sub Officer in charge of the Area 3 Agricultural Protection Unit, Sergeant Desroy Holness says the men were apprehended at their establishment in Luana.
Sergeant Holness is warning others who may be selling the illegally imported sugar that they will be prosecuted.
