It is being theorised that welding activity at a garage near Beryllium in Kingston may have contributed to an explosion and fire that left four men severely burnt.
The incident also resulted in damage to some motor vehicles.
Beryllium said it is providing support to the affected individuals.
Fire Brigade Commissioner, Stewart Beckford, said the injured men had been taken to the hospital prior to the arrival of firefighters.
Commissioner Beckford said investigations to determine the cause of the explosion and fire continue.
