649 murders were recorded in Jamaica up to Saturday December 20, a 43 percent reduction compared to last year.
487 fewer murders were committed compared to the 1136 recorded in the similar period in 2024.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, St. Andrew South recorded the highest number of murders with 74, followed by St. Catherine North with 63.
Portland had the least with 11, followed by Trelawny with 13.
Meanwhile, the JCF is reporting that cases of rape have declined by 115.
Robberies increased by 52, and break-ins by 170.
