The Government has allocated $75 million to assist churches with post-hurricane cleanup and recovery activities.
The Social Development Commission (SDC) will spearhead the process.
Several churches across the island were damaged or destroyed during the passage of Hurricane Melissa on October 28.
Minister of Local Government, Desmond Mckenzie made the disclosure, at the handover ceremony of tipper trucks to the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) this morning.
He said as time progress, the Government will look into how further assistance can be provided.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness pointed out that churches in the affected parishes can contact the SDC office so they can assess the damage.
