The final batch of 124 overseas linesmen arrived in the island yesterday, bringing the total contingent to 300.
Energy Minster Daryl Vaz noted that citizens would have seen an increase in the number of linesmen working to restore electricity and those who came yesterday will be deployed to work alongside teams already in affected parishes.
The overseas linesmen are assisting the Jamaica Public Service to restore power to areas hard hit by Hurricane Melissa.
Vaz noted that he will be working nonstop to ensure that electricity is restored to as many communities as quickly as possible.
He added that the barges with additional equipment and tools will arrive in Montego-Bay St James, on Saturday December 27 to further accelerate recovery efforts.
The minister expressed appreciation to the JPS and contractors who will be working throughout the holidays for the benefit of affected citizens.
Later today, at 10 AM, Vaz along with officials from the JPS for the launch of the empower unit in Treasure Beach St. Elizabeth.
He will then join JPS for a tour of the work taking place in Black River.
