The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing a triple fatal police shooting incident in Coral Gardens, St. James last night.
The deceased have not yet been identified.
INDECOM says the incident resulted from a police operation at around 11:00 P.M.
The police report that upon visiting and entering a specified location, the teams had separate encounters with the three men.
Two men are alleged to have attempted to relieve the officers of their firearms and were shot by other members of the police team.
The other man is reported as pointing a firearm at the police and lawmen reportedly returned fire.
All three civilians succumbed to their wounds.
The police conveyed that two firearms were recovered at the incident scene; one from a deceased and the other from within a room in the house.
No body camera was reported as being issued or worn by any of the police officers involved in this shooting.
INDECOM said the incident scene was examined by its personnel and the evidential material recovered, processed and packaged.
The hands of the deceased men were swabbed for gunshot residue, and their bodies photographed and sealed, pending post-mortem examination.
According to the Commission, the concerned officers will be served with Section 21 notices, pursuant to the Independent Commission of Investigations Act 2010 to submit statements and/or attend interviews.
Meanwhile, INDECOM is asking persons with information who can assist in identifying the individuals to contact the Commission.
Witnesses are reminded to provide photos, videos, or information available in relation to this and other fatal shooting incidents.

Last night’s incident has pushed the number of persons who have died in alleged confrontations with the security forces since the start of February to 19.
INDECOM said since the start of the year, 47 deaths have resulted from alleged confrontations with the security forces.
