Two men died in separate road crashes in St. Mary and St. James yesterday.

The deceased have been identified as 47-year-old Sian Taylor a taxi operator of Great Pond St. Ann and an unidentified man.

According to police the latest incident occurred about 10:50 PM last night along the A.G.S Coombs Highway in the vicinity of Fairview Plaza in St. James.

The crash involved a white Toyota Voxy motor car and a white Toyota Fielder motor car.

Lawmen say excessive speeding, following too close behind another vehicle and losing control are believed to have led to the crash.

The unidentified male who was a passenger aboard one of the vehicles died.

The other collission occurred at about 2:30 AM along the Prospect main road in St. Mary, involving a Grey Toyota Probox motor car and a grey Toyota Vitz motor car.

Police say Taylor was driving the Toyota Probox with 3 passengers aboard toward Ocho Rios.

It’s reported that on reaching a section of the roadway he collided with the Toyota Vitz travelling in the opposite position.

The injured persons were taken to hospital where Taylor was pronounced dead.

According to the Road Safety Unit 97 people have died in road crashes since the start of the year, this is 40 fewer than the 137 in the similar period last year.
