As the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority (NaRRA) Bill inches closer to establishment, small business operators have expressed concern about their involvement in projects carried out under the initiative.

The NaRRA Bill, aims to establish a single central authority to lead, coordinate and speed up post-hurricane reconstruction efforts, particularly after Hurricane Melissa last October.

The Bill was passed in the Senate on Friday and is expected to be sent to the Governor General for assent and then gazetted into law.

With several major real estate and infrastructure developments to be monitored by NaRRA, the Small Business Association of Jamaica is hoping that its members will not be overlooked.

President Garnett Reid wants small and medium-sized contractors to have access to contract, financing and procurement opportunities.
