The Transport Operators Development and Sustainable Services (TODSS) has sought to assure the public that there is no organized protest scheduled for today.
President Egeton Newman gave the reassurance last evening, following the circulation of a flyer on Whatsapp promoting an all-island strike by operators.
Mr. Newman described the flyer and its contents as false.
He explained that following last week’s discussion with the finance and transport ministries, the public passenger vehicle operators have agreed to refrain from any strike action until June 1.
The government is slated to give them an update about whether or not the operators will be granted a 16 per cent fare increase at once or in tranches.
