One person is dead and several others injured following crash along the Rose Hall main road in St. James this afternoon

One person is dead following a crash along the Rose Hall main road in St. James this afternoon.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Head of the St. James Police Senior Superintendent Eron Samuels says the incident also involved a bus transporting school children.

He said preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the bus tried to avoid an earlier crash and veered into a parked motor truck on the side of the road.

The police were called to the scene and the injured persons were taken to hospital where one person succumbed.

Investigations are ongoing.
