Police report 23.3% reduction in murders for the first 5 months of the year compared to last year

The police are reporting a 23.3% reduction in murders for the first five months of the year compared to last year.
According to the latest crime statistics 226 people were murdered up to yesterday May 31.
This represents a difference of 67 murders when compared to the 288 recorded between January and May 2025.
St. James recorded the highest number of murders with 30 followed by St. Andrew South with 21, Clarendon and St. Andrew Central each recorded 18 murders.
