The Government will soon implement a ticketing system similar to the one used for road traffic offences to help minimise travel waste in the country.
Travel waste refers to any garbage generated while travelling, including food packaging, beverage containers and other disposables.
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness said the plan represents his administration’s commitment to modernize and update the laws regarding proper waste disposal.
Dr. Holness said he hopes Jamaicans will understand that proper waste disposal is in the nation’s best interest.
He was speaking at the National Solid Waste Management Authority’s Long Service Award Ceremony.
