Opposition urges Jamaica not to only view Diaspora as source of remittances but as strategic partner in nation-building
As the nation continues to confront climate change-related challenges, the Opposition People’s National Party is urging Jamaica not to only view the Diaspora as a source of remittances but as a strategic partner in nation-building.
The appeal comes as the country observes Diaspora Day today under the theme “Diaspora Partnerships: Rebuilding a More Climate-Resilient Jamaica.”
Spokesperson on Foreign, Regional and Diaspora Affairs, Senator Donna Scott-Mottley, says the global Jamaican community represents an extraordinary reservoir of expertise, innovation, investment and leadership.
She says Jamaica must create stronger pathways through which that knowledge, experience and expertise can be meaningfully integrated into the nation’s development agenda.
