The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) says the management of the University Hospital of the West Indies has committed to address several concerns about working condition raised by nurses at the Accident and Emergency department.
The statement follows this morning’s protest by several nurses assigned to the hospital’s morning shift.
Head of the NAJ Dawn Marie Richards said the approximately 20 nurses stayed off the job, as they protested overcrowding, poor bathroom facilities and non working air conditioning units.
She said the workers are back on the job following a meeting with management.
Ms. Richards said the hospital has committed to fix the issues by the latest next month.
