Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) says it welcomes the announcement of Dr. R. Brian Langrin as Governor of the Bank.
Finance Minister Fayval Williams, who announced the appointment yesterday, said it becomes effective tomorrow, August 19, 2026.
Dr. Langrin succeeds Richard Byles, whose term concludes today, after leading the Bank since 2019.
In a statement, the Bank says Dr. Langrin brings to the leadership of BOJ experience at the highest levels of global finance.
During his tenure at the International Monetary Fund, he served as Regional Financial Stability Advisor.
He was Executive Director at the Inter-American Development Bank group, chairing the board’s Audit and Assurance Oversight Committee.
In service to the World Bank group, he was board advisor to the Executive Director for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean.
Most recently, he advised the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on modernising the region’s digital financial market infrastructure.
Dr. Langrin also served as BOJ’s chief economist in the Research and Economic Programming Division and then as Head of the Financial Stability Department.
