Agriculture Minister Floyd Green says the government is taking steps to reduce the importation of Irish potatoes, onions and animal feed.
He made the statement at a post Sectoral Debate engagement on Thursday.
Mr. Green said while Jamaica has been doing well at reducing onion importation, more effort is needed.
He said the government will be establishing 3 semi-commercial onion dryers this year.
Mr. Green added that the ministry is exploring options for local animal feed production and substitutes.
