‘Kartel’ (not the deejay) charged with murder Loop Jamaica

Detectives have arrested and charged a man in relation to the March 21 stabbing death of 54-year-old Carlton Smith of Hunsdene Avenue, St Andrew at the intersection of Molynes and Waltham Park roads in the parish.

Charged with murder is 32-year-old Michael Thompson, otherwise called ‘Mafia’ and ‘Kartel’, of Molynes Road, St Andrew.

Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that about 7am, a dispute developed between Smith and a man. The fuss became physical and a knife was brought into play, and was used to inflict a wound to the left side of Smith’s chest.

The injured man collapsed along the roadway and was transported to the hospital by police personnel who were summoned to the scene.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following an investigation, Thompson was apprehended later the same day, and was place in custody.
