The Kingston Central police are reporting a 50 percent reduction in murders so far this year.
Commanding Officer Superintendent Mischka Forbes, provided the update while speaking with Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness at Sabina Park in Kingston, recently.
She said the division has recorded three murders, two of which stemmed from stabbing incidents.
Superintendent Forbes noted that interpersonal conflicts resulted in two of the killings.
The commander said other serious crimes are also trending down, with cases of rape and robberies down by 100 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively.
She attributed the crime reduction to the implementation of Zones of Special Operations (ZOSOS) in the area.
