Detectives in St Catherine have arrested and charged 27-year-old Kimai Ellis, otherwise called ‘Metta’, of China Town, Central Village in the parish, following an incident at his home on Sunday, November 10 of this year.

Reports are that at about 11:30 pm, Ellis and a woman were at his home when an argument developed.

Ellis then allegedly used an AK-47 rifle and fired a single shot, hitting the woman to her left foot.

She was subsequently taken to hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Ellis, who has been charged with wounding with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition after a question-and-answer interview in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.
