Members of the public are expressing mixed reactions to Energy Minister Daryl Vaz’s comment regarding possibly limiting movement to conserve fuel.
This comes amidst global oil price increases stemming from the war in the Middle East.
IRIE FM News took to the streets this morning, and found that while some people are cautious about such a proposal, others support it.
One woman, who works in the finance sector, said the Government must do what is necessary to ensure continued productivity and stability.
However, she cautioned that the restriction on movement could lead to higher electricity consumption.
One Kingston man said he is cautiously supporting Minister Vaz’s proposal, noting that the crisis in the Middle East cannot be ignored.
Meanwhile, a St. Catherine woman is calling for public awareness on the matter.
She believes that citizens will conserve more if they truly understand that the Middle East war has serious implications.
