The Trinidadian Town of Guapo, Point Fortin, has been plunged into mourning after one of its residents died following a crash in St. Mary yesterday.
31-year-old Shirnell Ettienne was one of four people travelling in a motorcar along the Agualta Vale main road when it plunged into the Wag Water River.
Ettienne was reportedly swept away by a strong current and drowned. The other three travellers escaped.
The incident has rattled residents from her hometown, who described Ettienne as a well-known and well-loved athlete and individual.
One childhood friend told IRIE FM News that Ettienne has always been a dedicated and supportive friend.

Her sister, in a social media post, noted that her heart was shattered, as she tries to cope with the loss of her sibling.
She said Ettienne was more than a sister; she was a friend, confidant, protector, a source of laughter and someone who knew her heart like no other.
