St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS), Hydel High, and Eltham High claimed victories on matchday nine of the 2024 ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup football competition on Wednesday.
Former champions STATHS, who won the title in 1987, defeated three-time winners Camperdown 2-0 at Boys’ Town field, moving to the top of Zone D.
Ajetai Marshall opened the scoring in the 14th minute, with Christiano Brown adding a second in the 90th minute. STATHS now lead the six-team zone with seven points from three matches, two points clear of second-placed Vauxhall High.
Camperdown suffered their second loss in three games, dropping to fourth place with three points.
In Zone A, Hydel High, last season’s runners-up, continued their strong start to the campaign with a 4-0 win over Clan Carthy High at Homestead in Spanish Town, St Catherine, building on their dominant 9-0 victory against Ardenne in the opening match.
Hydel are on six points from two matches, three points behind leaders Eltham High, who secured their third consecutive win with a 5-0 rout of Dunoon Park Technical High.
Clan Carthy, with two defeats in three games, are third in the zone with three points, while Dunoon’s loss marked their second defeat in two matches.
