Integrity Commission “Under Siege” – IC Chair Justice Carol Lawrence Beswick

“Anti-corruption agencies are under siege.”

That is the declaration from Chairperson of the Integrity Commission, Justice Carol Lawrence Beswick, as she delivered remarks at the opening ceremony for the 12th Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Caribbean Association of Integrity Commissions and Anti-Corruption Bodies.

The event is being held in Kingston this year.

Justice Lawrence Beswick noted that the agencies are facing numerous challenges even as they intensify efforts to combat corruption.

According to the Chairperson, some of the issues are influenced by the very entities which helped to create the Commission.

Despite the numerous challenges, she stressed the importance of anti-corruption bodies engaging with the public to gain and keep their confidence.
