National Road Safety Council to sensitise motorists on October 1 Demerit Point System

The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) has indicated that it will be playing its part in sensitising the motoring public about the demerit point system to be implemented on October 1.
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz yesterday urged motorists to clear outstanding traffic tickets prior to the implementation.
The minister also noted that motorists have until September 30 to clear their traffic tickets.
Vice-Chairman of the NRSC Dr. Lucien Jones, who has long lobbied for the implementation of the system, said that it is good news.
Dr. Jones highlighted that too many Jamaicans have suffered serious injuries as a result of careless driving.
He said the demerit system will help remove such drivers from the nation’s roads.
