Works Minister Robert Morgan says the SPARK Main Roads Programme will equip roads with features to assist members of the special needs community.
Speaking at the launch of the programme this morning, Mr. Morgan said persons who are visually impaired will receive tactile cues from the road when they reach a pedestrian crossing or an intersection.
He noted that these are features that have never before been implemented in Jamaica.
According to Mr. Morgan, the roads will not merely look good upon completion but will be built to last.
