A man was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with the police at Ballard’s Valley Junction, St. Elizabeth, yesterday.
His identity has not been released.
Reports are that about 3:30 a.m., the police were responding to a break-in at a minimart in Ballard’s Valley, when they were challenged by gunmen.
A gun battle ensued, resulting in one man being shot.
He was taken to the Black River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The matter has been reported to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
