There is clear indication that many public sector workers are willing to accept the latest salary offer from the government.
The offer is for a one-off payment of $80,000 for Year 1, a 5% increase for Year 2, and a further 5% increase for Year 3.
The matter was discussed at a virtual meeting of the Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) on Wednesday.
JCSA President Techa Clarke-Griffiths had urged members to accept the offer, noting that it is reasonable.
She also noted that umbrella group, the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU), had accepted the offer.
During Wednesday’s meeting, an online poll was conducted and the majority of members voted to accept.

The intention is to have the acceptance finalised and officially communicated to the Finance Ministry.
The ministry is expected to submit the draft agreement to the unions today, and, if accepted the signing of the agreement is expected next Tuesday.
The signing of the agreement will allow for expedited processing and payment.
