An international manhunt for a Dominican Republic national who was wanted for murder came to an end during an intelligence-led operation in St. Mary, yesterday.
26-year-old Jhovanny De Jesus Metz Cruz is being sought by authorities in his homeland in relation to the murder of a garbage truck driver in that country’s city, Santiago on April 17.
Police say, acting on information yesterday, a team of St. Mary officers conducted a targeted raid in Annotto Bay where the suspect and another Dominican Republic national were being housed by a male resident of the community.
The three men were taken into custody.
Investigations continue as Jamaican authorities collaborate with their international law enforcement counterparts.
The operation forms part of the St. Mary Police Division’s continued intelligence-driven strategy to apprehend wanted persons-and other criminal suspects, disrupt criminal activities and prevent havens for persons seeking to evade law enforcement internally and overseas.
