Integrity Commission highlights staffing and legal challenges among hurdles faced

The Integrity Commission (IC) has pointed out that staffing and legal challenges are among the main hurdles it faces in carrying out its mandate.

In the Commission’s annual report, which was tabled in Parliament last week, it indicated that 29 employees had left.

The Commission explained that the turnover rate for employees for the 2024/25 reporting period was 19 per cent, representing a seven per cent increase over the previous year.

Director of Investigations Kevon Stephenson emphasised the issues at a press conference yesterday.

Mr. Stephenson said there is an average of 11 cases per investigator.

He added that legal challenges brought by some high-profile public officials have hampered the Commission’s investigations.
