Police have charged a Jamaica College student who allegedly assaulted a schoolmate.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Head of the St. Andrew central police division Superintendent Mark Harris told Irie F M News that the boy has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The accused is to appear in the family court next week.

Superintendent Harris noted that other charges are expected to be laid at a later date.

Earlier this week, Jamaica College said all students involved in the incident will be brought before the school’s disciplinary committee for appropriate action.

It’s alleged that a claim of theft led to the attack.
