MOCA’s cyber forensic specialists supporting FID in operation now under way into fraud-hit SSL

Cyber forensics specialists are assisting in an ongoing investigation into stocks and securities limited (SSL), with searches currently under way at four locations in St. Andrew and St. James.

Director of Communications for the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), Major Basil Jarrett said the agency is supporting the Financial Investigations Division (FID), which is leading today’s operations.

Other agencies involved are the Constabulary Financial Unit (CFU) and the special operations formation of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s The Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC).

Major Jarrett says MOCA will assist with securing, handling and processing evidentiary items.

Today’s searches form part of an investigation that began in 2023, following allegations of fraudulent activity involving SSL.

Jean-Ann Panton who is the sole accused in the alleged $3 billion fraud at SSL, the former client manager, was taken into custody in February 2023

She is facing a 22-count indictment, for charges of forgery, larceny as a servant and engaging in a transaction involving criminal property.
