Opposition Leader Mark Golding says Prime Minister’s decision to keep Dr. Andrew Wheately in Cabinet reflects poorly on his judgement
Opposition Leader Mark Golding says the Prime Minister’s decision to keep Dr. Andrew Wheately in Cabinet, following a recent report from the Integrity Commission, reflects poorly on his judgement.
Dr. Wheatley’s continued presence in the Cabinet, after the Commission recommended he be charged for offences, including illicit enrichment, was among several of the concerns raised at this morning’s civil society group protest in Cross Roads, Kingston.
Mr. Golding, along with scores of placard-bearing demonstrators, dressed in yellow, gathered around the Cross Road clock and war memorial, amplifying the call for Dr. Wheatley’s removal.
The Opposition Leader stressed that Dr. Wheatley should follow protocol by stepping aside until the matter is resolved.
According to Mr. Golding, the Prime Minister has not removed Dr. Wheatley from Cabinet, due to his unresolved issues with the Commission.
He also reiterated his concern about the Government’s use of relief donations following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, last October.
