Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has declared that every Jamaican must be invested in the reduction of the murder rate.
He added that individuals who support criminals should not ignore that violent activities can delay or prevent crucial developments, particularly those that benefit poor Jamaicans.
He made the statement at the handing over ceremony of the Vineyard Town housing development to 14 families today.
According to Dr. Holness, the contract for the project which began construction in 2017 had to be terminated in 2021 largely due to violence in the community.
He noted that this made it difficult for work to take place on the site, highlighting the overall effects of criminality on the society.
Dr. Holness said the Government worked hard to ensure that murders declined for three consecutive years in the country.
He further stressed that the success of this push resulted in the housing development being completed in Vineyard Town.
