PNP welcomes announcement that Western Children and Adolescent Hospital will be named in honour of former Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller
The People’s National Party (PNP) has welcomed the announcement that the Western Children and Adolescent Hospital in Montego Bay, St. James, will be named in honour of former Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller.
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness made the announcement yesterday while addressing the naming ceremony for the Ministry of Labour building at North Street.
Before Dr. Holness’ announcement, PNP President Mark Golding repeated the call for the hospital to also bear Mrs. Simpson-Miller’s name.
Golding noted that while the dedication of the Ministry of Labour building was an important recognition, Simpson-Miller’s contribution to Jamaica warranted even broader national acknowledgement.
He described the former Prime Minister as a transformational national leader whose contribution to Jamaica spans labour, tourism, social development, economic reform, and public infrastructure.
