The St. Catherine North Police Division has recorded a 34.8 per cent reduction in murders to date.
The disclosure was made by Commanding Officer, Senior Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, while speaking to Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
SSP Nicholson said most of the major crimes are down in the division, but there are concerns regarding break-ins.
He said that night commerce is active in Linstead and Spanish Town due to crime reductions.
He lamented that while the North/South Highway is crucial for commerce, the road is also being used for illicit activities.
