Residents of Mountain View staged a fiery protest on Monday, blocking roads with burning debris and disrupting traffic in response to the fatal shooting of Erick Shakespeare, a 55-year-old groundsman.

Shakespeare was killed during an encounter with the police at his home.

According to reports, law enforcement officers entered his house after knocking and receiving no response. Police claim  Shakespeare pointed a firearm at the officers, prompting them to open fire.

The unrest also affected schools in the area, which were forced to close early as tensions in the area escalated.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has been notified.
