111 people have been fatally shot by the security forces since the start of the year ; 5 yesterday
111 persons have died in alleged confrontations with the security forces since the start of the year, in comparison to 106 in the same period last year.
That’s according to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
INDECOM says 5 persons were fatally shot between yesterday and today.
Their names have not been released.
This brings the number of persons fatally shot since the start of this month to 35.
The most recent incidents took place in Five Ways, Greater Portmore, St. Catherin and August Town Kingston this morning.
It’s reported that two persons were fatally shot in Greater Portmore and one in August Town.
Meanwhile, the other two persons were fatally shot during alleged confrontations in St.Catherine yesterday.
Two firearms were reportedly seized.
According to the police, around 1:19 a.m., a man engaged officers in an armed confrontation along Gilden Way Main Road in Portmore when he was fatally shot.
A Browning pistol with four cartridges was allegedly seized.
And in the other incident, police say a man engaged lawmen in an armed confrontation around 12:45 a.m. along Job Lane, Spanish Town.
It’s alleged that a .357 Smith and Wesson Magnum revolver with five cartridges was seized.
