Country to continue experiencing drier conditions and higher temperatures in coming weeks
The country will continue to experience drier conditions and higher temperatures in coming weeks.
The heat season started in April and runs until October.
Head of Data Processing within Climate Services at the Met Office Adrian Shaw says the forecast is for above normal temperature this week and next week.
It has been very hot over the past several weeks, with heat being experienced both day and night.
The country has been experiencing daily maximum temperatures of just above 33 degrees celsius and this for many has been very uncomfortable.
The Met Service’s Adrian Shaw says its not a heat wave, but the heat season. It starts in April and a month later in sections of the country. With southern parishes having a longer heat season.
While there may be sporadic rainfall, the forecast is that it will remain hot for the next two weeks.
He points out that what Jamaicans are experiencing is not a heat wave.
Mr. Shaw says the Sahara dust and limited rainfall result in more heat.
