Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright says this year’s Dream Weekend comes at a defining moment for Western Jamaica, as the region experiences unprecedented levels of public and private investment.

Seiveright commended the organisers for 16 remarkable years in Negril, describing Dream Weekend as one of Jamaica’s most successful entertainment events and an important contributor to economic activity, supporting hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, vendors, event suppliers and hundreds of micro, small and medium-sized businesses.

He also welcomed the event’s move to Montego Bay for its 17th staging, noting that it sends a strong message of confidence following Hurricane Melissa.

He said Dream Weekend is more than an entertainment event, it is a powerful economic engine, and its arrival in Montego Bay comes as western Jamaica is entering an exciting new phase of development.

The Minister pointed to the continued expansion of Sangster International Airport, completion of the Montego Bay Perimeter Road, ongoing construction of the Long Hill Bypass, and the planned Hopewell–Sandy Bay–Lucea Bypass, describing them as transformative investments that will strengthen connectivity and support continued economic expansion across western Jamaica.

He also highlighted major private sector investments, including UNICO Montego Bay, Hard Rock, Moon Palace Jamaica Grande St. James and other large-scale hotel developments, together with hundreds of millions of US dollars being invested in the renovation and rebuilding of several established properties following Hurricane Melissa.

Seiveright further noted the completion of a 120,000-square-foot commercial bakery, construction of a new PriceSmart warehouse club, and the steady emergence of new restaurants, cafés, retail outlets and other micro and small businesses, all reflecting growing investor confidence in Western Jamaica.

The Minister said Dream Weekend demonstrates how major entertainment events stimulate economic activity well beyond the event itself, creating opportunities across numerous industries while strengthening Jamaica’s reputation as a destination for world-class experiences.

Seiveright congratulated the Dream Entertainment team on another milestone staging and wished organisers, patrons and visitors a safe and successful Dream Weekend.

The 2026 staging is set for July 30 to August 3.
