Children’s Advocate concerned about threat of online child sexual exploitation and abuse

Children’s Advocate Diahann Gordon-Harrison has expressed concern about the rapidly growing threat of online child sexual exploitation and abuse in Jamaica.
She said several of the sexual violence cases handled by her office had an online or digital component.
Mrs. Gordon-Harrison said predators use social media to groom their potential targets.
She also highlighted sextortion as another area of concern.
She was speaking at the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children’s virtual webinar on combating online child sexual exploitation and abuse in Jamaica.
